Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics | First Impressions

By Bethtinkerbell @TinksLostGirls

Last Monday Cohorted had the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette as one of their cohorts, and I couldn’t resist buying it as a payday treat! It arrived on Friday so I thought I’d share with you my first impressions having used it over the weekend.

I’ve never tried any Urban Decay makeup before so this is my first foray.

If like me you’ve never seen the Basics palette before you may be shocked at how tiny it is, it’s smaller than my phone! I do love that it’s tiny though, as it’s ideal for slipping in your travel makeup bag, or in your handbag.

Just like the original Basics palette it has 6 eyeshadows (L-R: Skimp, Stark, Frisk, Cover, Primal, Undone). Skimp is the only shade in the palette that isn’t matte, so if you like your satin finishes then this isn’t the palette for you. I’ve been using skimp to highlight my inner corner and also my brow bone, Cover over the lid, and then Undone in the crease. I’ve also paired Skimp with Frisk over the lid and Primal in the crease. Both are really lovely looks and easy to do. I’m really impressed with the eye shadows, the colours are beautiful, highly pigmented, and they’re easy to blend.

I can imagine this palette being great when needing to transition from day to night without having the option of going home and redoing your makeup. It’s small enough to pop into your handbag, and if you keep your day look simply you can top up where it has worn away and then do a smoky eye for the evening.

Will you be picking up this palette or adding it to your Christmas list?
