Story: Uprising starts when Cheon-young gets sold to the Joseon Dynasty. He is placed in a punishment position, as Jong-ryeo is taught to fight. However, he refuses to get punished and takes it upon himself to train Jong-ryeo. The two become friends despite their different positions in society. However, Cheon-young constantly tries to escape. Years pass by and Cheon-young (Dong-won) hasn’t changed his way.
One day the palace gets invaded and Cheon-young sees it as a chance to get freedom and change the structure he has lived under. Meanwhile, Jong-ryeo (Jeong-min) escapes with the military, looking to rebuild his life and regain his kingdom. The two once friends prepare for battle, as they are torn on what they once knew.
Verdict on Uprising
Uprising is an action drama about two boys who grow up in different worlds. One is a slave, and the other is his master. When war breaks out, the two become separated and turn into enemies as they try to rebuild their country.
This movie takes us into a world where a Dynasty faces war and the aftermath leads to a change between two friends. It shows how they survived in different worlds and came to make a difference when people turned to them, despite their different backgrounds. This has big fight sequences and shows the different strategies to stay ahead of an opponent. However, it doesn’t bring much to the table we haven’t seen before, there isn’t enough to make it stand above others with a similar storyline. It is an entertaining watch, and the cast is great too.
