In the middle ages torture was used for punishment, interrogation, and deterrence and that is nothing new, right? But how about beauty devices that go hand in hand with medieval torture machines?!
In the beginning of the 20th century Western societies became obsessed with women’s physical beauty. So it does not come as a surprise that during that period the industry of fashion and cosmetic had its boom. But some of the devices and machines that we will show you are simply bizarre, dangerous and absolutely totally useless.
While it is easy to laugh at these ridiculous gizmos, modern-day gadgets prove we’re no less gullible than our forebears. p.s. But feel free to laugh, we did to.
Noo, not BDSM! These rubber “beauty masks” were worn to get rid of wrinkles and skin imperfections. 1921.

The last but certainly not the least.This device is the only one on the list, that was meant to be used by men. Machine was supposed to remove your beard using mud and x-rays. Yeap, x-rays! Using radiation to remove hair is sort of like amputating your leg to lose weight.
