THE SHOWS unREAL
I really need this show to gain some traction. The buzz needs to be bigger, ya gotta start watching, it's pretty good. Lifetime released the first 4 episodes to help gain some momentum but I'm nervous that it's not enough and I need to do my part to get people to get this one on their radar. Watch it guys. It's really fun, the characters are great and the storylines are all unfolding into a much more layered drama. It isn't JUST about what goes on behind the scenes on a dating "reality" show, with episodes 2, 3 & 4, we're learning a lot about Rachel, Quinn and even our bachelor, Adam. I really don't want to give too much away because I just feel like at some point, you'll get on this one. I need it to get renewed guys, this is well done Summer fun. Check it out!!!
Nurse Jackie I guess it was good for Jackie and Zoey to take a road trip to find Grace. Zoey got a lot of stuff off her chest and had the breakdown she was on the verge of having. She called Jackie out big time and Jackie got it. At least, I think she did. The fact that the two of them could just bolt from the hospital while it was packed with patients was a bit of a stretch. Of course Grace was fine, on her way to a college she wanted to check out. Grand plans to leave the family, get a job and go it alone, away from all the insanity. Yeah right. Wasn't Grace a mess last season? Isn't she sort of still a bit of a mess? Jackie's so desperate for her love and wracked with so much guilt, she gave her some dough, a phone charger and some great advice, "take a train next time not a bus." Whatever. The doctors are taking advantage of the current situation at the hospital and dispensing tons of meds and tests until the doors close. If Carrie ends up with the Norwegian dude, I'm not going to be happy. Eddie and Akalidis found out that Jackie has some sort of deal with Norway, but they don't know what it is. Things don't look good for Jackie next week and I'm hoping the last 4 episodes aren't ridiculous. I'm just getting antsy with this one already.
The Fosters If you remember correctly, I was going to delete my Fosters Season Pass but then the season ended with a car crash and I needed to know who lived and who died, so I tuned in last night. Of course nobody died but I'm still in mourning…no Jesus at all. He's away at school and he must be gone from the show because even when his Mom's called him on the phone, we didn't get to see him or his amazing 8 pack. I know it sounds sick and creepy, but Steph and Lina aren't enough for me. Brandon and his music issues...not enough. Marianna and her promiscuity issues, not enough. Jude and Connor also, not enough. I would have thought that Callie's storyline would keep me tuned in, but she continues to make all the wrong decisions for the right reasons and screwing herself in the process. I hate to say this guys, and yes I admit it's very shallow of me, but no Jesus, no abs, done.
The Island
These guys are dropping like flies. 3 gone just in week 1 alone. Illness and injuries are just getting them big time. Took them 3 days to find usable drinking water and it's been a week without much food. They did get that snake on day 1, but that's been it really. A few little limpit things but not enough to feed everyone. They're all falling out of their shorts and looking pretty thin and skeletal already. They are getting along pretty well, but without food, their energy level is so low that they have trouble getting it together to hunt for food. After 3 days of net fishing, the got one tiny fish. There was quite a moment when their net caught a sea turtle that looked like it was dying. Instead of killing it and eating it (which they probably couldn't do on TV since the turtle is endangered) one of the dudes gave the turtle mouth-to-mouth and saved it's life. Pretty cool to see it fight its way back to the sea. This show's tough and there is no prize that I'm aware of, just survival and bragging rights I guess, but, honestly if you survive a month on this island, you deserve to brag. I wouldn't last a second.
THE OTHER STUFF
You know I'm obsessed with ratings, time shifting, cross platform viewing, all that stuff. Times are changing and it's just complicating my life, my job, everything…Adweek published a gorgeous infographic that I found a bit confusing but there were some takeaway's worth mentioning:
