It is rightly said ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’
So let me share with you my experience at the UNITED ART FAIR 2012, Asia’s biggest artist driven fair hosted at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Well, it was the last day yesterday so we just rushed to have a look at it. For a lover of art like me, it was just an enthralling experience with 2500+ artworks by 600+ artists. Huge numbers i know!. I don’t think i would have ever seen such a huge collection of painting and pieces of art...
The fair had everything to cater to an artist’s heart from paintings exhibition to sculpture park, seminar programme, video programme, art projects, art walks, art store and book launches too..!!
Also, people could buy Indian modern and contemporary art direct from artist from all over India.
It would have taken a whole day’s time to just observe patiently everything out there because every painting was worth at least five minutes to just look and depict what exactly the artist wants to convey through his work. But since we went there quite late, i just spent 90 minutes or so with my legs aching like anything..!!
I would call the fair diverse because of the way in which the art works were produced; each made from a different source and thus putting together making an amazing piece of work. The most common were acrylic on canvas, on jute, water colours on canvas, thread work, metallic illustrations, designs using fibreglass, pastels... almost everything possible was used.
