Unemployed Man Wants 99 Pence But A Bid Ain’t One

By Nottheworstnews @NotTheWorstNews

The Daily Mail reports that an unemployed British Man tried to sell himself on eBay for a minimum bid of 99 pence, but received no bids.

For those of you who are not up on currency conversion, the amount might get you a hamburger in the U.S.

3 Questions That Arise From This Story

1. Does this mean people think eBay is some job search site like Monster.com? If so, they’re in for a rude surprise when they expect a 1998 Super Mario Nintendo plush animal to get to work and smash barrels and anything else at the Australian Winery that must destroy over $35 million in expiring wine, according to the LA Times!

2. Why would people try to auction themselves off on eBay? That is the web site where people get bids under $4 for their souls, as we wrote about here. And on that note, is it not fair to say that if you have no soul, Craigslist or Adult Friendfinder are where the money are at?

3. So wait a minute, you got a major newspaper to write about the fact that nobody would bid on you on eBay, but you couldn’t get someone to bid on you on eBay? Have you not seen how auctions work in movies? Sometimes you have to get family members to bid on yourself to make it look like you’re more in demand.*

*we wonder if that would violate eBay’s Terms of Service, although we’re pretty sure selling yourself does, so why stop with the rule-breaking there!**

**because this web site does not advocate getting yourself in lawsuits.
