Ugly Alert! Avocado Green Console Table To Restoration Hardware Style Beauty
Isn’t this really ugly? I think the reason this makeover waited so long was because I wasn’t quite sure anything could bring this table out of it’s misery. Until I had a vision of it looking something like this……
Restoration Hardware
Of course, my table isn’t weathered oak and it never will be. But I wanted that weather oak finish! I just had to figure out a way to fake the look. Using some leftover Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Coco, I gave my console table 2 coats of paint. I didn’t sand it or anything afterwards, I wanted the texture.
Then I mixed up my own Liming Wax out of Sweet Pickins Clear Wax and General Finishes Antique White Milk Paint. (Don’t get the General Finishes Milk Paint confused with the Sweet Pickins Milk Paint I use to get the chippy finish. They are two very different paints! The GF Milk Paint is an acrylic paint. ) I’ll share with you my exact recipe and technique on Friday.
But the results were pretty darn good if I do say so for myself!
Exact? Of course not. But for the price of an estate sale table with some leftover paint over the price of the real deal. I’ll take it!
I love how the wax really got into the texture of the paint.
So much better than avocado green! And let’s not forget my RH Inspired Books. You can make your own using this tutorial here.
The love affair with RH style can continue!
