At least two people were killed and dozens including children injured when twin bombs hit the finish line of Boston Marathon on Monday.

According to sources at least 120 people are being treated. Eight people are said to be critical condition. Eight of the patients are children.

Police said a third blast rocked the John F. Kennedy Library several miles away and an hour later, but no injuries were reported.

Following the blasts, security officials cordoned-off the spot and cellular services in Boston have been suspended.

“Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice,” President Barack Obama said in a TV address. Boston “is a tough and resilient town,” he said, adding that Americans will stand by Bostonians “every single step of the way.”

There was no immediate claim of the responsibility on the attack. Police have started the investigations but no suspect has been taken into the custody yet. About 27, 000 runners were partaking in the 26.2-mile race, one of the world’s oldest annual and most prestigious marathon.

.Both blasts on race occurred within ten seconds between the distance of about 100 yards, turning the celebrations into a bloody scene.

The consequences of blast were extremely turbulent, several spectators and at least one runner were flung to the ground, windows were shattered and a gray cloud of smoke whelmed the street. There was panic all the way, the people were screaming and blubbering.

The pictures showed rescue workers carrying the wounded people to hospital via stretchers.

After the initial tests, police said there were no high-grade explosive material were used in the blast and termed them as “crude explosive devices.”

Meanwhile, the security in Washington, New York and other states have been beefed up while the surrounding area of White House has been closed.
