Some of the most requested features on Twitter for years have become an option for editing tweets and increasing character limits. While the microblogging platform still does not allow users to edit tweets, it doubles its character limits from 140 to 280 a few years ago. Now, there seems to be new features in development that will allow users to make long posts and articles, without pressing the plus button again and again.
At present, Twitter has a 280 character limit for his tweet. To post something long, it allows you to make a few tweets that are chained together in sequence. According to Jane Manchun Wong, a security researcher and engineer, Twitter is now working on a feature called “Twitter article” that allows users to create long-shaped articles without words on the platform. In accordance with the shared screen catch, twitter articles will most likely have their own separate places where they will appear, and the character’s limit for tweets will remain unaffected.
In other tweets, Jane also mentioned that “there will be a lot of potential with Twitter articles”. He further said that people might be able to post exclusive articles for their super followers. It is even possible that this feature can be limited to news publications or only Blue Twitter customers. The company recently bought a revue newsletter platform and integrated it into a user profile, and another acquisition, scroll, allowing users to view ad-free articles on certain website groups.
Twitter hasn’t shared anything about this development officially, but a spokesperson tells CNET that “Twitter is always looking for new ways to help people start and get involved in conversations”, and we can expect more information about this. At the very least, it means more stupid content on Twitter, which is the last thing we all need.
