George Lucas just paid those Star Wars prequel actors to be in the movies; he didn’t bother to tell them what the movies were actually going to be called, beyond Episode 1, 2, 3. At least that’s what it seems like because here’s how Ewan McGregor reacted when a reporter at the red carpet premiere of 2001’s Moulin Rouge told him that 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II was going to be called Attack of the Clones:
Even his Moulin Rouge co-star Nicole Kidman laughed when he told her the news. McGregor also managed to throw in a little dig at the Phantom Menace in the process.
Really, his honest reaction mirrored that of the Star Wars fans, who now have a long history of mocking every new Star Wars title from Phantom Menace to Force Awakens. Don’t you remember all of those “I didn’t realize the Force had gone to sleep” jokes after Disney first announced Episode 7 would be called The Force Awakens? For example, many were quick to quip alternate titles like Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Hits the Snooze Button.
Well, that was so last year. The new cool thing is making up funny, satirical titles for the still untitled Episode VIII. Courtesy of Twitter’s hashtag explosion #BadStarWars8Names, here are some of the titles we hopefully won’t actually see behind Episode VIII:

Actually, when you scroll through all the titles you see a lot of people simply mocking titles everyone already hated like Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug or Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. For example:

Out of all the bad titles, my personal favorites are:

Enjoy the laughs now because you just know that whenever Episode 8‘s actual title is announced the lightheartedness will be replaced by outrage, impossibly in-depth analysis and…well, probably plenty of jokes because that’s just how we roll these days.
