STARRING: Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti.

Following the premiere of a rather useless comedy was the seasons best comedy. I’m saying this without having seen any other sitcom premieres yet, because that’s how good Brooklyn Nine-Nine was.

Every once in a while a series premieres that is nothing like any of the other shows on the current landscape. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is like that. It boasts a strong ensemble of personalities, headed by Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher. Samberg is great as Jake, a slacker detective who is actually really good at his job, and battles with his new captain (Braugher). There are genuine laugh out loud moments here, as well as a series of moments that will make you smile. One of the best written pilots in recent memory, it has a clear understanding of its characters, and where it wants to be as a series.

The only problem is that Dads is the lead in. FOX will need to partner it with a stronger show, because with Agents of Shield premiering next week, this show could get crushed. Definitely DVR this if you can.

PREDICTION: Should get a back nine. It might need a new timeslot depending on how Agents of Shield performs.
