The entrance is somewhat tribal, with nothing but her vocals making it a song. The repetition before the drop marks her print and, once that initial phrase is complete, the beats jump in and you know who you're dealing with.
This differs from Tennis Court, which we wrote about before, because it is nowhere near as aggressive ... however, it is just as powerful in its own right and we feel that Lorde has definitely managed another ingenious single that will work brilliantly as Royals' successor.
An element of Lana Del Rey is still well and truly etched into Lorde and her music, but this begins to retract from it and goes much more in the direction of Foxes or Daughter - light, innocent, but more capable of powerful prowess than we can imagine. Edgy.
We believe that, despite her age, Lorde is capable of very big things and that, given that little bit of time and that little bit of luck, she will continue to grow and soon become one of the biggest names in the music industry - good on her!
