As of yet, all we have had from the new highly anticipated tUnE-yArDs album was a mashup of the whole record. And while that was a fun little amuse-bouche, we were definitely in need of something to tie us over until the album actually drops on 5/5. Here to make the wait easier is the percussive awesomeness that it “Water Fountain.” Merill Garbus still shows off her incredibly powerful voice and ability to intricately weave beats and sounds — but she takes a softer route in parts of the track. It builds from a relatively quiet start (for tUnE-yArDs anyways) to the propulsive, almost tribal throbbing that we have come to know and love. It’s a track that will more than tie us over until the albums release, and surely bodes well for the album as a whole.
