It’s a special occasion dilemma. We want to wear nice shoes with our special outfit. We’d prefer to wear heels because it makes us taller and our legs longer. But we know we’re going to be on our feet all day and don’t want to suffer blisters and aching feet by lunchtime. Whether you’re going to a wedding, work event, awards ceremony (in my case!) or birthday celebration you can be almost certain that the majority of women will be shoe-less by the time they hit the dancefloor in the evening!
The most coveted of all shoes are the elusive comfortable heels. Once you’ve found that pair of shoes, they’ll become your wardrobe staple and will be rolled out for every special occasion. I’m pleased to say that I’ve found the very pair of shoes - these little beauties above and they are under £20! I wore these wedges on the evening of the National Blog Awards and even their first outing was a comfortable experience. I was fully prepared to peel my heels off by the time the band started but I didn’t need to – my feet were fine. Here’s what they look like in a less-grainy, unfiltered, non-Instagrammed image:
I thought it might have been the champagne or cocktails numbing my feet on that evening, so I road-tested the shoes again at the most challenging of events the following day – a wedding. I was on my feet all day, walking on stone, grass, wood, and gravel – no problems to report in terms of heels sinking into the ground or slipping over on a polished dancefloor. I wore these wedges from 8am – midnight without a twinge. Pretty good, huh?
I know this might just be my own experience of the shoes, and that someone with different shaped feet - a more narrow or wider foot, curvy instep, longer toes, or any other foot factors – might not enjoy these shoes in the same what that I did so I can’t guarantee they will be amazing for you too, but now that I’ve found a pair that’s right for me I’ll be stocking up on the other colours and fabrics in the range. At least try them on and see if they feel okay for you – they may well become your favorite shoes too. By the way, they are from New Look
There’s a slightly lower heeled version of the wedges too, which come in pastel colours and a canvas finish that would be good for casual days out during the summer and might be even more comfortable than my higher suede wedges. Plus the original wedges are available in leather and patent finishes too so I’m going to invest in as many pairs as I can so that my feet will always be comfortable at special occasions and I can concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than rubbing my painful heels!
Let me know where your most comfortable pair of heels came from and I’ll try them out too – it’s a lifelong search for the perfect comfortable heels and I can never have too many!
