Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week you compile a list of ten books, which coincide with that week there! You can find everything you need to know about joining in here!
This week's topic is the top ten books on my fall 2021 to-read list.
My TBR is currently towering, so it was hard to narrow this down, but here are 10 of the ones that I'm most excited to read in the next few months.
- Love over Scotland by Alexander McCall Smith - I enjoyed the first two books in the 44 Scotland Street series so much that the third book goes automatically on my TBR list.
- The world according to Bertie by Alexander McCall Smith - This is the 4th book in the 44 Scotland Street series. Can you tell I adore this series?
- The Night Manager by John Le Carré - I have to read one thick, chunky Le Carré novel each year, and this year, my choice is The Night Manager. I watched the show (starring Tom Hiddleston) on Prime last year, and I loved it so much, and have been meaning to read the book ever since.
- The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides - This was a Goodreads book of the year when it came out in 2019. It's a thriller and everyone I know is raving about it. Perfect for fall, actually!
- The Maidens by Alex Michaelides - I plan to follow up The Silent Patient with The Maidens - another runaway bestseller often compared to The Secret History (just one of my favorite books of all time).
- The mirror and the light by Hilary Mantel - I have finally added this massive tome to my bookshelf, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into this last book in the Cromwell trilogy. My expectations are high with this one.
- The Testaments by Margaret Atwood - I have been postponing reading this sequel to The Handmaid's Tale for a really long time now. I guess I am nervous that this book will just not live up to the awesomeness of its predecessor.
- An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen - These two authors have been predictably good for me. I love their books; they are solid and suspenseful, and after the couple of heavyweights on my list - this book will work as a palate cleanser of sorts.
- Truly devious by Maureen Johnson - It's been a while since I read any YA. I am bored of the trend towards romance or the supernatural. But Truly devious promises to be a pure mystery series set in a boarding school. And it's giving me all kinds of good vibes.
- The vanishing stair by Maureen Johnson - I feel so positive about this series that I have this second book on my TBR as well. I really, really hope this series lives up to the hype. It's been ages since I read a good YA.
What books are on your TBR? Have you read any of the books on my list? Which ones would you recommend I get to first?
