Trying Faith

By Thelazzyreader @thelazzyreader

I’m reading a new book and I have absolutely no motivation to pick it up.  I don’t like reading the back of books before I start reading because I like to be surprised and boy or boy was I surprised. The book started off with a religious theme and since I’m not much of a religious person I’m completely put off by it.
The book isn’t bad but I just have a bad taste in my mouth after reading it you know? It’s just that... I feel like I’m going to be disappointed and it’ll be a struggle to read it, so I don’t want to pick it up.
You’re probably thinking … what book are you talking about damn it?! I’m talking about An American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser.
I read his Sister Carrie book and I really LOVED it so I have no reason to assume that this book will suck but yet I have a strong feeling that it will.
I really don’t want to waste my time, but I’ll finish reading a chapter before I decide that I hate the book.
It's super long, the cover isn’t appealing and did I mention how thick it is? It has 866 pages! So I’m expecting gold. I’m on page 10 and all I can say is meh…
But we’ll see.

Comment below and tell me if you’ve read the book before. Don’t be stingy with your thoughts!
