Truthpaste – ‘Friendship is the Truth’

Posted on the 20 April 2026 by Spectralnights

Truthpaste have shared ‘Friendship is the Truth’ ahead of the release of debut EP ‘I Don’t Know Either’ on 28 April, 2026 via Dirty Hit and Memorials of Distinction.

Reminding us of Slow Club and the anti-folk classics of the early 2000s but combined with the complex chamber pop melodies of contemporaries like Black Country, New Road, the song offers a touching ode to friendship – ‘Taking the time to know you’; ‘You make me scream but that’s OK’ – including how sometimes they make you want to smash in their TV, there are baroque bursts of brass and sublime strings littered throughout as the band joyously sing in unison: ‘Friendship is the truth be told, dear.
Maybe I’m delirious, I don’t know’.

This is swiftly followed by a two-way conversation that cements the bond between the two voices: ‘Are you gonna go?’ ‘I’ll stay right here’.
