True Blood’s Nelsan Ellis to Play Martin Luther King Jr. in ‘The Butler’

Nelsan Ellis, who plays the incredible Lafayette Reynolds on HBO‘s True Blood has been cast as Martin Luther King Jr. in ‘The Butler’.  Directed by Lee Daniels, ‘The Butler’ is about the life of Eugene Allen, a White House servant who worked for eight First Families.  Ellis is joining an all-star cast with big names such as Liev Schreiber (Lyndon B Johnson), Robin Williams (President Dwight D. Eisenhower), Jane Fonda (Nancy Reagan), Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey and more.  Filming has begun in New Orleans and no release date has been set for the film.

Ellis has finished filming Season 5 of True Blood and has also recently wrapped ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘Gods Behaving Badly’.  He is also set to direct the documentary ‘Damn Wonderful’.
