During his interview Bauer talks about the way True Blood is able to bring a lightness to Andy’s situation, while maintaining the serious nature of his addiction saying:
“I think for all of the comic book-type action and energy of ‘True Blood,’ some situations are paradoxically pretty deep. Andy as a portrait of an addict is pretty accurate. As is with the case with an addict, it’s got to get really, really, really bad and there’s got to be consequences before you’re going to change much,”
While we have been introduced to Andy’s sister Portia (Courtney Ford) and his grandmother Caroline (Katherine Helmond), Andy essentially lives a solitary life. He has been leaning a lot on Jason but overall there is no one really for him to rely on, and that is how Andy has made it. Perhaps the love of a good woman would straighten Andy out? On this subject Bauer replies:
“I can’t think of anything else that will just wholesale solve his problems.”
While his first date with Holly was a disaster, we can only hope that once he cleans up from the V, he will be given a second chance.
His sister Portia hasn’t exactly been lucky in love this season either. She found out she had been having an affair with her great, great, great grandfather and oddly enough that didn’t deter her. It took some of Bill’s glamouring before she managed to let go of that thought. So will Andy find out about his relationship to Bill? Bauer does not reveal one way or another but he does say:
“I hope he will find out about it because it’s just one of those moments that would be a shame to waste.”
We agree. Maybe Bill can help Andy get off the V and find a nice woman to settle down with. But we definitely hope the friendship between Andy and Jason continues because Bauer and Ryan Kwanten have a fantastic chemistry and play off each other well. Be sure to tune in to HBO Sunday nights at 9:00pm to keep up with Season 4.
