This movie will tell the story of Jonas, a young boy who has inherited the job of ‘Giver’ for his local community. In a world that is ruled with an iron fist in regards to their ‘sameness’ rule, it is a daunting task for him.
Along with Alexander Skarsgard, the cast is reported to include Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Cameron Monaghan and Taylor Swift. Jeff Bridges will play the title role of The Giver.
Principal photography on the Weinstein Company and Walden Media co-production is due to commence Oct. 7 in Cape Town, South Africa, while the movie is scheduled for release on August 15 2014.
