Trotter's Cafe... Serving Fresh and Local in St. Paul's Merriam Park

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

When I stopped at Trotter's Cafe in St. Paul's Merriam Park yesterday morning they were sold out of fresh cinnamon rolls! With tables filled with groups and singles alike, and the bustle of people coming and going it was easy to understand why. The bikes parked out front even on a winter day made me smile... this is a place where locals come to both eat and gather.

The motto of this neighborhood cafe has been 'LOCAL~FRESH~YUM!' for over 20 years. Committed to using mostly regional and organic ingredients, they serve freshly made delicious food to their local community daily.

Their hand-written sidewalk tent sign announces the specials of the day, and you can also find their menu and specials online. But their commitment to 'LOCAL' goes beyond food... they also feature local live music, a local reading series, local art shows... and every Saturday is LOCALS NIGHT. Come for dinner and live music on Locals Night and get a 10% discount if you live within 2 miles of the cafe... and another 5% discount if you walk, bike or bus to get there!

Located midway between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul, Merriam Park was largely developed in the late 1800's and early 1900's as a suburb for professionals and their families. It was even considered as a location for the state capitol on the site that became the Town and Country Club private golf course. Now a part of St. Paul, stately historic homes line the tree-shaded streets of the Merriam Park neighborhood. Average home price in this neighborhood is $313,110. See homes for sale in Merriam Park.
