Trick Or “Not So” Treat?

By Bren @Virtual_Bren

In honor of my favorite Holiday of the year, I bring you much Chocolate sadness.

Halloween is just not for kids

I don’t know who gets more excited about Halloween, Us or our Children? The Halloween school parties during the daytime, turn into “after the kids are asleep” adult parties.

We all love to get dressed up in costumes and pretend we are someone or something that we are not. Part of the fun is masquerading in order to get away with mischief that you otherwise might not as your true self.

But who get’s more excited? Let’s break it down.

The children

The children get excited when they think of going house to house collecting all that candy that they “think” they are going to eat. The thought of dressing up as their favorite Disney character or witches and goblins get them even more excited.

However, as we all learned the hard way, Mom and Dad need to sort through our pumpkin of goodies before we can even attempt to open that first candy bar or bite into that caramel apple.

Part of the fun for children is to try and sneak and eat before Mom or Dad gets a hold of the bag. But as we all know, children can never get into chocolate, without giving it away on their face, their teeth or their fingers.

The adults

If you’re a Mom or Dad, you get anxious about seeing your little ones excited, right? But after all the prep time in buying or making costumes, taking them door-to-door or party-to-party, we get darn right tired! We get home and the children are so anxious to get into their pumpkin of candy, you quickly scan through a grab a few “safe” goodies. This generally will shut the children up long enough to get them on their way to cleaning up and bed.

“You can eat more of your candy tomorrow”.

Once the little babes are all tucked away with chocolate remnants still on their faces, Mom and Dad get ready for their candy party. We snicker thinking about the children laying in bed dreaming of all the sweets they’ll eat the next day while we steadily unwrap chocolate bar after chocolate bar and shove into our mouths.

However, do you know how many Calories you just ate?

Who really cares, right? If you’ve ever checked the back side of a full-size chocolate bar, you may be surprised to see the amount of Calories and Fat in that bar. Is the euphoric feeling you got from eating the chocolate compensating for those extra calories? Probably so, until you get on the scale the next morning.

So, I found this cool infographic just in time to WARN YOU about all the Calories you’re going to be shoveling into your mouths later this evening.

YOU’VE BEEN FOREWARNED!

From Visually.

Are you surprised by what you see?

But let’s not talk Candy Corn, do people still eat that mess?

Let’s talk:

  • 1/4 of a Milky Way bar
  • 1/5 of a Butterfinger
  • 1/4 of a Snickers
  • 1 Reeses Cup? ONE?

Then you look at the finer of the goodies, M&M’s!

10 Peanut M&M's equals 100 Calories? Oh, bloody hell! #Halloween #TreatsClick To Tweet

Has the infographic deterred you from you Mission?

If you’re like me, Hell to the No! 10 Peanut M&M’s are not going to get it. I have to eat the WHOLE bag and still search for more!

So take it from me, in honor of the Halloween spirit, eat until you puke and deal with it the next day!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
