In November the quince seems to hold its breath. It is one of the earliest trees to leaf up in the garden and one of the last to let them fall. It is still trying to stay green even though it knows it cannot win this battle.
As I move in closer to look at the tree the branches look almost dripped with paint.
Green is still the dominant color.
but only just.
I remain, as ever, in love with the red veining that becomes so prominent this time of year.
