I've developed a fondness for historical fiction / historical crime recently and have read quite a few books. I bought this a few years ago and it's the oldest title on my TBR list. This is the fourth book in a series. I really enjoyed it and plan to read the other books. Giordano Bruno is a fascinating character, fugitive Italian monk, free-thinking philosopher, writer and heretic turned spy. The book is set in Canterbury, a location I haven't come across in fiction before. The author does a great job bringing this to life. I enjoyed the way the author interprets real life characters like Sir Francis Drake into the book. This is an entertaining historical thriller, well written, engaging and entertaining.
