Travelling With CBD

The holiday season has arrived! Time to travel around and enjoy the sun! But what about your CBD? You need to travel but can you take CBD with you? Today I will guide you through how to travel with CBD.

Can CBD be taken on a plane?

CBD oil can be taken in the hand luggage if you want to be able to take it easily on the flight, but it can be put in the hold luggage if you do not intend to use it while flying.

Since CBD oils are usually only 10ml, they do not break the 100ml liquid limit, so it can be carried in hand luggage, though it is better to keep it sealed and wait until the end destination. If you want to use it, keep it in a plastic see through bag to avoid spillage and for easy inspection. Alternatively, try CBD gummies or tablets for an easier alternative.

Some ways of taking CBD can't be done on a plane. Since vaping is banned on planes for various reasons, CBD e-liquids and vape pens can't be used. While bath bombs are allowed on the plane, you obviously can't use them since most planes don't contain baths.

If you are using a UK airport, you can be sure that CBD oils have been seen by the staff before. Treat CBD oils like you would treat any other food supplement.

Be aware though, even though it is legal to fly from the UK with CBD oil, it may not be legal in the country you land at. Take a look at our guide to see how legal CBD is where you are going.

Flying From the UK to Europe

Flying from the UK to the rest of the European Union is currently the easiest to fly to. Travelling from the UK to the EU with CBD is simple, since the authorities are already well aware of CBD and so you do not need to worry about it. Flying with CBD products to the EU is fine so long as the products are UK legal.

Flying with CBD to Spain is fine, with Spain containing a number of CBD brands. Any UK-legal CBD products will not be an issue, but if you are worried about it, keep an invoice close by. Then, enjoy the sun, sea and sand of Spain!

Flying to America

All marijuana was illegal in carry-on bags and checked luggage up until May 2019, where the Transport Security Administration (TSA) updated its guidance on carrying medical marijuana, allowing you to bring some forms of CBD oil, so long as it is produced within the regulations defined by the law.

The TSA's new laws still ban other forms of marijuana, including CBD products containing THC and cannabis infused products that are still illegal under federal law, though it is not yet known how TSA agents determine the difference. TSA agents usually screen for possible threats but they do not search for illegal drugs, however anything suspicious found is reported to the authorities.
