When a new baby enters the picture, though, many families feel like they simply can’t go on a trip until the little one gets a little bit older. This couldn't be farther from the truth, though. Traveling with babies doesn't have to be overwhelming as long as you plan and prepare appropriately. Follow these tips to learn how to have a successful and fun vacation even with a baby in tow. 1. Research Hotels in Depth Before You Book
Not all hotels are created equal. Some are certainly more family friendly than others, and making sure that your hotel can accommodate your baby will go a long way toward making your vacation more manageable. You’re paying for much more than a bed, so make sure that money is well spent.Look into hotels that can provide cribs to allow for a better transition for your baby.A small fridge is key to store bottles and baby food. Some hotels offer certified baby proofed accommodations, which can be essential for toddlers. If you are traveling with multiples, look into a family friendly resort. My family of 5 chose to stay at a great kid oriented resort when we visited Hawaii, that was still ranked as one of Honolulu’s top hotels. This will allow parents, kids and infants to be comfortable, safe and entertained.2. Plan your Flight During your Baby's Natural Sleep SchedulePopping ears and cramped seats do not make the top list of comfortable transport.Luckily, most of us have figured out a way to avoid the pressure and settle in for the flight. For your new baby, this will not be the case. Consider feeding during takeoff and landing to alleviate the pressure. This combined with the noise of the engine will likely lull your baby to sleep, providing both of you with a more pleasant flight.Scheduling a short flight during naptime or a longer one around bedtime can be a great way to ensure your baby sleeps through the duration of the trip.
3. Save Packing Space by Ordering Diapers Online
Babies come with a need for accessories – bottles, diapers, toys, etc. To ensure that you have enough room in your car or that you don't have to pay extra for additional baggage on your flight, consider ordering diapers and have them sent directly to your destination. This will save you a lot of room and many services offer free shipping.
4. Invest in a Portable CribIf you’re staying at a hotel you should consider buying or borrowing a portable crib. Portable cribs are made for traveling, so they don't take up a lot of space and still unfold into a perfectly comfortable place for your little one to sleep. Don’t think you’ll get enough use out of it?These are great to bring to Grandma’s house or the babysitters. The more accustomed your baby is to their sleeping environment, the easier it is to fall right to sleep. And there you have it, four easy tips that should make traveling with your little one much more manageable. As long as you plan ahead of time and get all of the necessary equipment, you can enjoy all of the benefits of a wonderful family vacation without having to worry about the downsides of traveling with a baby. When did you first take your little one away? How old were they? How was it?
