The wettest place I have ever been is the Olympic Peninsula, home to several temperate rainforests, where rainfall averages between 12-14 feet a year. When we were there a few years ago, each day was a bit of sunshine and gray clouds interspersed with rain of all kinds—showers, drizzle, and pelting. The landscape is lush, beautiful, and spackled with drops of water. Large lakes, plants in all shades of green growing on top of each other, making it hard to tell where one plant ended and another began, huge pieces of driftwood washed up on shore, and long, wet beaches.
