TRAVEL: Experience and Memory

By Jsleigh14 @jsleigh14

There are so many moments of joy and happiness during a holiday that it is impossible to remember them all, even if we imagine we could never, ever forget them at the time they take place. Very often, when looking through each other’s photographs afterwards, somebody will say, “Oh! I had completely forgotten that day!”, and without that visual reminder they may never have recalled a wonderful moment or a funny conversation.

Nowadays, with digital camera technology, it has become easier and much more affordable to preserve precious memories in this way. Whether it is expensive, state of the art specialist equipment for a professional photographer or cheap digital cameras from Tesco, experiences can be stored and treasured for years to come without the expense of film and getting negatives developed, and with no limitation on the number of photos that can be taken.

There are so many types of modern cameras available that, from the very young to the very old, there are models and styles suitable for everybody. The price of the technology gets cheaper every year, while the quality gets higher and higher, leading to outstanding images captured easily and affordably.

The experiences that people go through on any kind of traveling adventure are so amazing to experience at the time that it is easy to think, at the time, that we could never forget that spectacular sunset, or how silly Dad looked when he fell asleep on the beach. But, in reality, the use of photographs to prompt us is vital to truly recall all of these amazing memories. People we cherish are captured – smiling, happy and relaxed – and these snapshots become valued possessions, especially as time passes.

Many digital cameras also offer the capability to record videos as well, nowadays. Alternatively, separate video recorders can be purchased for a very reasonable price. What these offer is something that few families could have dreamed of even a generation ago. Back then, not only was video recording technology prohibitively expensive, it was also bulky and unwieldy to carry around. Now, hours of captured “tape” can be played and replayed, all filmed on a device small enough to be carried around in a pocket or handbag.

Embarking on a holiday or family adventure without digital cameras seems almost impossible to imagine. The memories they will store, for decades to come, are by far the most valuable part of what comes back in any suitcase.
