Trash to Treasure: Re-Imagining Your Waste {Pallets}

Posted on the 28 April 2011 by Livinggreenor

Ages ago I worked at an international freight forwarding company who primarily shipped oil and gas related goods to the Russian Far East.  I’ve seen my fair share of wood pallets from the job but I’ve never seen any used as creatively as these shown below.

{i hope this pallet house is somehow fire-proof! by i-beam design}

{i love, love, love these pallet shelves by mary janes & galoshes. so creative, so fun, and so practical!}

{um, can i just get a kitchen make-over and have this? there’s something so simple and rustic about it that I just love. this plate rack is by katrin arens via remodelista, image by jordi canosa.}

{this pallet bike trailer looks easy enough i may be able to make it, pending a new bike that is. complete directions and details on instructables.}

{i’m beginning to realize just how cool furniture is that’s made with repurposed pallets. seriously, i would easily have this pallet shelf in my home; it’s definitely a one-of-a-kind!  find the complete instructions at design*sponge.}

{these pallet chairs are from repurposed goods (check out their website for a ton of other pictures). you can purchase a .pdf diy guide via etsy if you’re not so crafty-inclined.}

{this is a chair version of the ever popular hammock except i might use a little thicker rope to hold it up! find out how to make it over at instructables.}

{pallet shoe holder by junk+ion via recycleart. looks easy enough, i’m just not sure i’d use it for nicer shoes as i’d worry about scuffing (which could probably be easily fixed with a little design tweaking).}

{all i can say is “wow” to lori danelle’s toddler pallet bed found via recyclart. visit lori’s website for step-by-step instructions on how to make this masterpiece!}

I could easily post a dozen more images using pallets so it looks like there’ll be a part two in the future.  I have to say, I’m utterly amazed at how cool ALL of these items are!  I would have any of these pieces in my house (well, except for the house!) in a heartbeat!  If you’re handier than I am, maybe you can try your hand at making one of these creations!
