Glass Jars: Most people have mason jars or other glass jars around the home. They just seem to be something people like to collect. Put them to good use for storage of small items. Use them to store office and craft supplies such as paperclips, pencils and pens, rubber bands, scissors, pins, ribbons, buttons, etc. For decoration, turn a glass jar into a vase to display fresh flowers.
Shoe Boxes: Utilize shoe boxes for both storage and decoration by covering them with bright wrapping paper, craft paper or fabric. Shoe boxes are great for storing and organizing small items. They can easily be stacked and tucked away, or put out as a part of decoration.
If you have sturdy enough shoe boxes, you can turn them into shelves and shadow boxes, holding light weight items for wall decorations.
Children’s Art: Show your child how proud you are of their work while creating simple, inexpensive art. Collect and frame their hand-drawn pictures with inexpensive frames. Display clay sculptures and other 3D pieces on coffee tables and end tables.
Miscellaneous Dishes and Saucers: Mismatched dishes, vintage tea saucers, and other decorative dishes have many uses. Use saucers as soap dishes or jewelry holders. Keep small decorative dishes in the kitchen, on a side table or by the door to collect miscellaneous items. These provide quick, easy storage places and make it look like you put those miscellaneous things there on purpose. If you have a large and varied collection of dishes, consider hanging them on the wall for decoration.
Collection of Books or Magazines: Have a stack of books or magazines you couldn't part with but have nowhere to store them? Place a small stack of books or magazines on a coffee table or end table with a vase of flowers or knickknack on top. It’ll look like it was meant to be.
These are just a few items you can reuse to your advantage. Take a look around your home. You’re sure to find things that can be turned ?into useful storage and decoration.
