Requirements:

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in Fire Science or related field, at least three years of firefighting, training and fire prevention experience, or any combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Considerable knowledge of firefighting methods. Knowledge of fire prevention methods, laws and ordinances. Knowledge and understanding of departmental and City safety policies, practices and procedures. Knowledge of methods of fire prevention, fire protection systems, and building construction. Knowledge of rescue and first aid methods. Ability to plan, organize, and schedule fire department functions. Ability to use and maintain audio?visual equipment and simulator. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at various levels within and outside the organization. Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate life saving techniques. Ability to keep accurate records of public education programs. Ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to maintain accurate records and use the computer. Ability to recognize situations that need action and to take appropriate action as necessary. Skill and ability in fire suppression/prevention techniques. Skill in public speaking and public relations. Ability to operate office equipment including but not limited to copiers, computers and software applications. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) driver’s license.
