Track Of the Day: East India Youth - 'Dripping Down'

Posted on the 15 January 2014 by Rw/ff @rwffmusic

A lot of longterm RW/FF readers will remember the wonderful Doyle And The Fourfathers, who were featured here a lot when this blog was known as 'Mr Scott:Music'. They split in 2012, with frontman and songwriter William Doyle returning as East India Youth. And when I first heard his latest project, I was hugely impressed at how natural Doyle sounded within his new musical surroundings, taking to a majorly new way of working like a duck to water. Taking in ambient, synth pop, psychedelica and even acid techno, on the debut album 'Total Strife Forever', he lets his imagination free with a great deal of confidence. The dazzling new single 'Dripping Down' combines the gift for melody that he demonstrated in his former band with a wealth of wonderfully constructed electronic sounds. the album is out this week, and i HIGHLY recommend it. The first great album of 2014 is here, and it will be reviewed on these pages over the next few days...
