Apart from having a winter wardrobe, I also have a winter beauty cabinet. I tend to bring out my winter beauty items way before I do the same with my clothes, as my skin is quite sensitive and she simply doesn't like dry winds in winter months! Apart from using a new set of moisturiser, toner and cleanser that are creamier in texture, I also like to switch to liquid foundation instead of loose powder in my makeup routine during cooler months.
Before I started my toxin-free beauty journey, my fave was hands down the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation - I vowed I'd never part with her. That was all until around tweleve months ago when I started to research extensively about the nasty chemicals hidden in my beauty cabinets, and I could never, ever, look at her the same way again ( if you've missed my article about the common chemicals to watch out for in your beauty products check it out here.) Foundations that are formulated with toxic heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium and nickle are simply not pretty at all. In case you haven't heard, heavy metals can build up in your body over time and are known to cause varied health problems (read more from the source here).
On a mission to find a green and toxin-free alternative for my slightly yellow skin tone, I was recommenced and sent this Fruit Pigmented Water Foundation by 100% Pure to go for a test run. The result? I think I've found my go-to foundation for everyday use and am more than happy to trash my previously loved Giorgio Armani. Here's my full review:

My Verdict:
♥ The foundation provides medium coverage. Being water based with aloe juice rather than oil based it feels extremely lightweight on my skin and gives not even a slight sign on greasiness. It feels luxuriously hydrating on my skin and the texture is similar to a tinted moisturiser rather than a foundation.
♥ The finish? It gives an utterly natural, healthy glow with a dewy finish. It looks sheer while covering my pigmentation flawlessly (I don't have a lot of pigmentation on my skin). My skin also looks super pumped with moisture like a freshly harvested tomato! It gives a real, touchable look that is great for day use. Not anything shiny and not anything greasy - TICK TICK & TICK!
♥ I was really happy with how wonderfully the shade works to slightly neutralise my yellow skin tone to give a pinkish healthy glow but it isn't too over-powering like wearing a mask. I wore the creme shade which is the lightest. It also comes in three other darker shades.
♥ This water based foundation would suit all skin types but I feel it works especially well for someone with oily or combination skin type like myself. It doesn't cling onto my dry patches and it gives no oil slick kind of t-zone on my face.
♥ In terms of staying power I'd tag it as a good medium. I wear mine on work days from around 7am and it lasts really well until around 4 to 5 pm (without wearing a primer). Then it starts to show some small signs of fading in my forehead areas and slight shine on my cheek. but it wasn't anything too dramatic that I can't handle!
♥ It comes in a lovely glass packaging that feels quite luxurious. I really like the pump in the bottle for hygienic reason and ease of use.
♥ It comes with no SPF. Personally it works perfectly as I prefer to put on my sunscreen and foundation separately. When I go out in the evenings, I don't wear sunscreen just to give my skin a break from an extra layer of product when you don't need it.
♥ Overall, this is an everyday kind of lightweight foundation that makes your skin feels hydrated and breathable while still giving enough coverage. I'm very pleased with how it looks on me. If you don't like heavy foundation with full on makeup kind of look this is one for you!
