Tous Les Jours, a French-inspired pastry shop in Korea, opened its 12th store in the Philippines yesterday at the new SM Jazz mall in Makati. Their celebrity guest Brazilian model/actress Daiana Meneses graced the event for the ribbon cutting, along with a few bloggers and media people. Not only they celebrated a new branch, but they also launched two other things — their new waffles and the Patisserie Connoisseur Card. More about these two after the jump. Oh and prepare to drool *food heavy post ahead*… Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

All these for us! The word “diet” momentarily didn’t exist in our vocabulary.

I also saw the cake counters. I’ve always associated TLJ with cute cakes! I remember receiving their Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake when I attended their sister brand Etude House bloggers event early this year. Anyway, you can see in the photos later on that Daiana recreated that cake!

Of course TLJ being French-inspired, it’s no surprise to see these colorful macarons! I’ve also tried their macarons before and I loved ‘em! It melts in your mouth and is very moist. It’s also affordable at only Php28 (regular) and Php38 (premium flavors) each.

We were also served some of their bestseller cakes — Kiss Strawberry, Classic Chocolate and Mango Dream cake. Mine was the mango cake and although I liked the generous amount of mangoes, I find it too sour probably cos the mangoes used are overripe.

And now let’s talk about one of the highlights of the event — their latest addition, WAFFLES! They currently offer four variants namely strawberry, blueberry, chocolate, and the plain Belgian waffle. The flavored ones cost Php48 while the plain one is only Php38. Now for the verdict. It’s not overly sweet, yet you wouldn’t exactly find yourself needing to coat this with honey or maple syrup anymore (although I didn’t see any jars of it, probably by request?). It’s just the right amount of sweetness.

But what made their waffles stand out, at least for me, is its crunchiness. I honestly can’t stop praising it and all I can say after every bite was, “Wow! Ang crunchy!" TLJ President Ms. Andrea Amado dropped by our table and asked us if we liked the waffles. And of course I commended the crunchy texture, to which she said it’s all because of the high quality imported flour they used. They also use real fruits for the strawberry and blueberry waffles.

Moving on, we were introduced to their new Patisserie Connoisseur Card. This is some kind of a loyalty and rebate card, only better. You earn points for every purchase which is convertible so you can spend on TLJ. The concept is similar to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf’s Swirl Card, and I became a loyal customer of CBTL cos of that. I’m sure I’ll be loyal to TLJ cos of their very own Patisserie Connoisseur Card as well. How to get one? Simply purchase a minimum order of Php500 (single receipt), and you’ll get a card. That easy! Visit www.tlj.ph for complete details on how to activate your card and get rebates.

Daiana helped TLJ resident pastry chef Peter design the Rose Inspiration Fresh Cream Cake. Props for Daiana for making chef Peter, who happens to be a Korean, sing a Filipino song (not sure about the title… err Pusong Bato?). Everyone enjoyed watching the cake demo!

Me with Daiana… ohh darn! Boohoo shorty me! Why did I forget to wear heels again?

So there you have it! I highly recommend their waffles so you better try those! Do visit Tous Les Jours latest branch in SM Jazz Makati located at 109-A Jazz Residences, Jupiter St., cor Nicanor Garcia St., Bel-Air, Makati City.
