"They say the truth can set you free. I found out it can kill you."
Seventeen-year-old Kat Matheson has never revealed the dark secret that sets her apart from everyone else: She can see and hear the dead. Until now, she has been able to ignore the strange apparitions and whispering voices. But it may not be that simple anymore.
Haunted by eerie visions and increasingly frightening nightmares, Kat begins to fear she may be the target of a dark and ominous force from beyond the grave. Complicating matters is the arrival of her new neighbor, a young man she instinctively distrusts but is inexplicably drawn to. Gorgeous and mysterious, he seems to hold a disturbing knowledge of her long-held secrets.
As she desperately tries to maintain control, events take an unexpected and violent turn. Discovering that nothing is what it seems and that her psychic abilities may involve far more than just communing with the dead, Kat may be forced to confront her worst fears and the powerful curse that controls her destiny.
Now THIS is an amazing cover! I love everything about it. It's dark, it's creepy, and I was beyond thrilled when I was given the chance to review it. It's like the cover was made just for me. There's a ghostly aura about it which fits the story line and totally sucked me in! Add some scary trees in the back and you've got one excited chick. And check out that dress... just wow, perfection.
Kat was such an awesome character. She's really someone to look up to. She's not easily persuaded and she tells it how it is. I didn't like how shy and awkward she was in the beginning due to a certain boy she'd been crushing on, but once the story picked up she totally redeemed herself. Her attitude towards Lovell cracked me up. After a while I was like please give this poor man a break already. And Rachel is just the greatest addition ever. I wish we all had a friend like her!
I knew I was going to love this book from the very beginning. Kat sees ghosts... I'm in! I love a good ghost story and this one did not disappoint. For the first time EVER, I got a little creeped out while reading this book. Bravo Molly, that never happens! I have been waiting for the day when a book would come along that actually made me want to sleep with the lights on, and I have finally found it. I'm a cliffhanger fan so I was pretty content with the ending. I can't wait to read the next installment!
There wasn't really a quote I wanted to point out to you guys this time around. Sorry loves!
