Rome is a hotbed of history and culture with ruins around every corner and a heritage that has been preserved for thousands and thousands of years. On this day tour, you get to take a glimpse into what life used to be like in the Eternal City while visiting some of the city’s most iconic and fascinating attractions. Walk in the footsteps of gladiators, explore some of the oldest ruins in the city, and learn more about Rome’s fascinating past.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is Rome’s most famous landmark and one which dates back more than 2,000 years. In the past, gladiators battled for their lives in the ancient arena, locals bet on wild animal fights, and people watched annual games held in the 50,000-seat amphitheater.

The Roman Forum

Continue your walk down memory lane with a wander through the epic Roman Forum. Here, you can walk amongst numerous remains from years gone by, many of which are still imbued with their lengthy history. Learn more about the political, commercial, and spiritual epicentre of Rome through insightful commentary.

Palatine Hill

The third stop on your trip back through time is Palatine Hill, the point where it is thought Romulus founded Ancient Rome. Here, you can gaze out at the sprawling city below.

The Vatican

In the afternoon, we’ll venture over to another of Rome’s most majestic and historic attractions – the Vatican. It is home to many of the city’s most memorable landmarks, including the impressive dome of St Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museum. While inside, you can weave your way through a labyrinth of ancient paintings, Roman sculptures, and fine art collections.

The Sistine Chapel

The final stop is the Sistine Chapel, one of the most important religious buildings in the world. Admire the frescoed ceiling which dates back to 1512 and see the mastery of Michelangelo in real life.

This tour gives you an excellent insight into the life and times of Ancient Rome, as well as a look at some of the world’s most impressive and important buildings.
