This week the topic is: Book series we are yet to finish.
Hooboy. There are so many of them. This has got to be the easiest topic ever.
- The Uglies set of books by Scott Westerfield: I liked the premise of the first book very much, and I do intend to go and read all the other books in the series. Just, you know, not in the mood for it right away.
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S.Lewis: This is pretty shameful. I read the first three books in the series, and then have just never been compelled enough to go further.
- The All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness: I read A Discovery of Witches couple of months back, and while I liked that book ok, I don't feel upto another couple of chunksters right now.
- The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon: I loved Outlander, but in my mind, it stands so good as a standalone story that I never felt the need to read more. I may change my mind someday, but again the size of the remaining 7! of these chunksters is super-intimidating for me.
- The Maddaddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood: I liked Oryx and Crake very much, but again, it works so well as a standalone story that I don't feel compelled to read the other two books. It doesn't help when I see reviews saying that the characters in the sequels are not the same as those in Onyx and Crake.
- Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich: There are so many books in this series, y'all, and they are all so similar when it comes to the story. I think I've come up to the 11th or 12th book, but frankly I've lost count. What I do know is that I haven't read all the books.
- Discworld by Terry Pratchett: Just too many different books and characters. While I have loved every book I read, I never seem to figure out the order in the series and so end up skipping these.
- Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: Another one where I read the first book, loved it tremendously and then didn't bother getting to the end.
- The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb: Again, read the first book, yet to get to the others.
- The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss: Ditto, read the first book and then stopped.
- House of Night by P.C Cast and Kristin Cast: Read the first six books in the series and then lost my way. I shouldn't have because even though they were quite badly written in places, it was pretty addicting. But yeah, I stopped at the sixth book and then got distracted by another new and shiny series, I guess.
And yeah, I have eleven on my top ten list, and I would have so much more if I counted really carefully 😀 . I never realized till I did this meme just how distracted I have got. I used to be the person who always finished a series, but of late, I just don't have the patience. I would much prefer if many of these trilogies were just written as one fat book. I hate the waiting for the next book to come out setup, it only serves to make me forget about the series rather than waiting eagerly in anticipation.
