Top 7 Outdated Gadgets You Should Throw Away

Posted on the 09 April 2013 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Technology is developing so fast it makes some of the gadgets I used back in five years ago look and feel like stone age tools. While I was using my old-school Pentium III PC, I’ve realized that it’s time to get rid of some these old-school gadgets. I’m not forcing anyone to give up you precious things. But, let me remind you that by giving these up you can free-up some space in your room or maybe even make some extra cash.  Now, I know some of you may find these still useful. I’m just saying, you may be wasting your time and money. So, check out the list and see if you need to get rid of these ancient gadgets.

FM Radio

Anyone can listen, download, buy songs online these days. Heck you can even listen to radio online too. So, who would even bother to listen to music on a bigass radio with  advertisements and stuff. These days, I almost never really hear anyone listening to a radio. Which is why I think it’s time to get rid of this stupid thing.

Alarm Clock

All the mobile phones come with an Alarm clock app. Even the latest smartphone apps have some innovative ways to make you get up in the morning. It’s time you should start using them. Believe it or not, I’ve never had an alarm clock because I used my phone to get up in the morning by playing my most favorite song.

iPod

Back when I got an iPod for the first time, I used to show it off and mock everyone who used Walkman’s. Now, everyone walks around wearing earbuds, listening to music on smartphones. I love my iPod. But, today’s smartphones got enough space to store up a couple thousands of songs. So, I think it’s really stupid to carry both an iPod and a smartphone on your pockets when you can do both and much more with one device.

Calculators

Unless you’re working at a supermarket, you won’t be needing this. Once again, this is just another free app that comes with mobile phones. Use it instead.

Land Line Phones

This is a must have gadget for offices and businesses. But, for home use, not so much. Face it, nobody really bothers to call someone using a land phone when they can do it cheaply and easily right out of the pocket, while walking around the house. I can’t really remember the last time I used a giant land phone. My point is, if you own a mobile phone you don’t need this. This will definitely save you some money.

Roll Film Cameras

These days you can take a photo using the HD camera on your smartphone and print it out at home, spending nothing. Some even have digital compact cameras. Roll film cameras are the floppy disk of the photography world. So, stop wasting your time, money and throw this away. Unless, you’re a professional photographer.

Fax Machines

You know you’re working at a lame old office when you have a fax machine. Emailing is the fastest and the easiest way to send and receive documents these days. Get rid of this junk right now, burn it, throw it in the dumpster before you humiliate yourself and your business, seriously.

Some believe that Desktop PC’s, Printers, Scanners, Thumb drives and optical drives belong in this list. But, I still use them and they do come in handy. This is all the ‘useless’ I could come up with. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment.
