Top 5 Favourite Sir John Hurt Roles

By Newguy

Sir John Hurt is one of the most legendary actors in the business today, he has nearly 200 credits to his name. John does have the ability to take up any role be it lead or small, good or bad, he has appeared in some of the biggest franchises and been part of the most iconic scene in sci-fi film history. John has never managed to win an Oscar and only been nominated for two over his long career, those nominations were in 1979 for Midnight Express and 1981 for The Elephant Man. Today I am going to look at my favorite five roles and I would like to point out that I haven’t seen a lot of his early work.

5. Gilliam – Snowpiercer (2013)

Gilliam is the leader of the back and lowest lives on the last train on Earth. I have picked this because it shows what Hurt was capable of in a supporting role that will be shocking with minimal involvement.

4. Trevor ‘Broom’ Bruttenholm – Hellboy (2004)

When Broom entered the scene in Hellboy he entered as the mentor, leader to the characters in what was one of the best comic book adaptations he filled us with all the information we needed to let the action unfold on front of us.

3. Winston Smith – Nineteen Eighty – Four (1984)

Winston is a member of a big brother like world called London in Oceania where falling in love is a crime, after Winston does fall in love he must find a way to escape the viewing eyes and ears. It is one of the darkest sci-fi films of all time.

2. Kane – Alien (1979)

Kane is the character who was involved in one of the most iconic scene with the headline of most iconic death and entrance at the same time and when it first happened it shock every single member of the audience.

1. Adam Sutler – V for Vendetta (2005)

Adam is the evil leader of a future society where everyone has to play by his rules but when V stands up for the country he has to make example out of people.
