Top 10 World’s Happiest Countries

The 2014 Gallup Positive Experience Index has ranked the world’s happiest countries according to the data collected via a survey, and you’ll be surprised to know that the top 10 on the list are all in Latin America.

Taking the top place out of 143 countries, Paraguay has ranked as the happiest country in the world, followed by Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Honduras. The world giant United States was ranked 15th, alongside 11 other countries that shared the same happiness score.

Here are the top 10 on the list with their scores -:

  • Ecuador, 84
  • Guatemala, 84
  • Honduras, 82
  • ŸPanama, 82
  • Venezuela, 82
  • Costa Rica, 81
  • El Salvador, 81
  • Nicaragua, 81

Gallup Positive Experience Index survey has interviewed nearly 1,000 people in each country, asking about how happy they felt on the day before. The researchers have used these responses to give each country a score to rank them according to happiness.

These are the 10 countries with the lowest happiness score -:

  • Sudan, 47
  • ŸTunisia, 52
  • ŸBangladesh, 54
  • ŸSerbia, 54
  • ŸTurkey, 54
  • ŸBosnia and Herzegovina, 55
  • ŸGeorgia, 55
  • ŸLithuania, 55
  • ŸNepal, 55
  • ŸAfghanistan, 55

These top ranking countries in Latin America are among some of the poorest countries in the world. And this survey certainly proves that wealth has nothing to do with happiness.
