The year 2013 has come to an end. It was a wonderful year full of surprises. We not only survived the doomsday but also proved that the number “13″ is not so bad after all. It was an amazing year in the world of technology as well. We were introduced to many innovative and futuristic technology trends and gadgets throughout the year, including the next-generation gaming consoles and many other devices.
Even though, amazing devices like Google Glass and Oculus Rift were introduced to developers this year, I can’t include those gadgets in this list as they weren’t yet released for the public consumer. So, lets take a look at some of the impressive and most innovative gadgets released in 2013.
iPhone 5s
Despite the same design, look and feel, the new iPhone 5s deserves the top spot of the 2013 gadgets list in every way, thanks to its’ innovative TouchID finger print sensor, upgraded camera sensor and the powerful next-gen A7 CPU. Without doubt, Apple’s new iPhone 5s was the most innovative smartphone release of the year.
Xbox One
I know, most of you gamers are going to hate me for this. But, I have fair reasons to choose Xbox One over PS4. First of all, Xbox One has a deep integration with Kinect, not only with Kinect-based games but also with miscellaneous features like built-in video calls and more. That’s something you don’t see with PS4 and PS Camera. In addition, Xbox One’s support with with cable and satellite TV boxes and the fact that it gets powered by Windows 8 made it the ultimate all-in-one entertainment system release of the year.
Leap Motion
I bet you didn’t even think about seeing this here on the list. In fact, many people are still unaware of this amazing piece of device. This $80-dollar gadget basically turns any PC or a laptop into a futuristic computer, like the one we saw in Minority Report. You get to control your computer with nothing but gestures, without even touching the keyboard or the screen.
iPad Air
The lightest, fastest and most innovative tablet available in the market today. If the powerful A7 chip and the super thin body is not enough for you, ten-hour battery life and high-quality gaming will convince you to choose this tab over any other.
Moto G
Google’s recently acquired phone maker, Motorola debuted two new devices this year, Moto X and Moto G. While both these devices offered truly amazing features like custom color configurations, always on voice commands and customizeable casings, I went for the Moto G because of its’ extremely affordable price tag and the impressive specs.
Google Chromecast
Google’s new $35-dollar streaming device was a massive success for the company. With features like streaming videos from online, from computer to TV and many more, Google sold out the first batch of Chromecast in under several hours.
Nokia Lumia 1020
Nokia’s new 4.5-incher went viral all over the world thanks to its’ bigass 41-megapixel camera, which offered crystal clear photography and video. As far as I know, this phone packs the best smartphone camera, so far.
Canon EOS 100D
Canon unveiled this new camera dubbed as world’s lightest DSLR camera. It was actually small enough to hold in the palm of your hand. And offered 1080p Full HD video recording with a 18MP APS-C Hybrid CMOS AF II sensor.
HP ENVY17
I call this the most innovative laptop of the year 2013 as it’s the world’s first laptop to feature embedded motion sensing abilities. You can snap off the display of this laptop and carry it around like other hybrid laptops, but this laptop simple took the first step towards taking laptops to a new level.
GIGABYTE Brix II
Believe it or not, this tiny 4.5-inch box is actually a powerful gaming PC. Packed with Intel’s superfast Iris Pro graphics chip and Haswell CPUs, the GIGABYTE Brix II can even run Dirt 2 and Crysis 3 very smoothly.
