Tomato Week

By Ollypj @OllyPJ

Before another week begins, let’s take a moment to travel back beyond the previous 7 days to look at what I made and ate during my second productive week in following my new cook book.

This time, the theme is undoubtedly going to be tomatoes.

We’ll start off with the rather healthy-looking salad you can see above. Lots of tomato in that! I went with butter beans because I couldn’t spot a single tin of cannelini beans on the shelves in Lidl. I didn’t like this. In fact, I didn’t even finish it. Too cold. If I’m going to eat a salad, it has to be heated in some way. That’s just my preference, I now feel.

Without allowing too much to go to waste, I was able to save the tomatoes and land them inside another omelet only minutes later! That was much better.

Towards the end of that week, I attempted the garlic chicken recipe and that was delicious. So much so, that I’m going to try it again soon. I’m also having thoughts about adding bacon… I managed to find the cream crackers in Lidl as well – they’re underneath the loaves of bread I’ve been buying each week! Without a food processor, I had to break and grind the crackers as best as I could buy hand… I’d guess they were expected to be much finer but it didn’t affect the taste on my part.

That same week ended with the consumption of a pizza topped with sliced hot dogs, which I spotted in a freezer. It tasted very nice, even though I was unable to detect the flavouring of meat.

And last week, after literally discovering ‘a bunch’ of chives (honestly, it looks like something I should be watering on my window sill), I made my second attempt of the potato salad recipe from last time, with the extra addition of fresh cream.

This is going to be a regular meal from now on. Well, it’ll have to be, with that great handful of chives to consume! ;-)

Thanks for reading. If I can find the macaroni, I’ll be attempting that with cheese soon, among other meals and not to mention some more baking!
