Today's featured abstract painting was completed in 2006. First the background was painted and allowed to dry. It has a an open feeling because I used a lot of water to blend the small amounts of browns, white and parchment paint I used.
Next the central grid-like image was painted in a loose, expressionist style. The titanium white contrasts sharply with the raw and burnt umber. The cobalt green and burnt sienna provide highlights, as well as a touch of cadmium red and Prussian blue.
The burnt umber lines drawn in acrylic paint help define the composition.
