Travelling with a young child can seem rather daunting, especially if your going to be alone, but there are preparations you can make to make the trip easier and more enjoyable for both of you.

Must Have Items

Baby wipes – without a doubt, so handy for everything

Air freshener – you have to change a dirty nappy on the back seat

Plenty of snacks and drinks.

Toys or books to entertain

A change of clothes

A favorite blanket

Time Your Trip

Can you take to the road at a time when your baby or young child usually takes a nap?

Make Stops

Try to make as many stops as you can, remember that sitting in a car seat for hours can become a huge issue to many young children, they get bored easily.

If your due to arrive at a certain time, then set off earlier to accommodate stops.

Change nappies while you stop, its not nice sitting in a soiled or wet nappy and can make your child miserable.

Have Fun

Take along a children’s CD to play some of your child’s favorite songs and sing along with them. Ask them to find the birds or how many cars can they count, keep them distracted. Take along some toys or books that your child can have in their car seat.

 Cut The Cost

Service station prices are way over the top so be sure to take snacks and drinks with you. When you stop you will not need to be tempted to buy snacks.
