Tips for Great Hair in the Winter

By Catty212
I love the Winter but it's never kind to my skin or hair. When the temperature drops my hair can easily become dry and hard to style. The cold air outside combined with the hot air in the house or work creates a 'bad hair season' for me. And if I dare to wear a hat ... I daren't take it off!
I always stock up on a range of treatments to pamper my locks during the chilly season. I buy products that are aimed at repairing and adding moisture to damaged hair. I find they work better during the harsher weather.
Whilst I'm no expert on haircare, there are a few things I've found that help my poor locks and I over the winter months.
1. Get it cut regularly.
I have the ends trimmed much more often over the winter. It prevents split and dry ends ravaging the rest of my hair.
2. Keep it hydrated.
I used conditioner every time I was my hair and use an intense moisturising mask once or twice a week. I also use a finishing serum which smooths the ends of my hair after I've dried and styled it.
3. Wash it with cool/warm water
Instead of blasting the shower at boiling temperatures try and use a cooler water to wash and rinse your hair. It will cause less damage and is less likely to dehydrate your hair.
4. Be gentle
I try to be as gentle as possible with my hair while it's fragile.I only brush when it's dry and try to style it with hot tools less often. I love using my straightened but I know using them in the colder weather dries out my hair.
5. Drink lots of water
I know this should go without saying, but sometimes we need a reminder. Drinking water will keep us hydrated from the inside and our whole body will benefit.
