Tips for Avoiding Getting Sick, and Knocking It out Quickly If You Do

By Lindsayleighbentley @lindsayLbentley

So, I’m back.  I was going to post yesterday but found myself in bed all day not feeling well.  This hasn’t happened in over a year so it really bummed me out.  At first I thought it was food poisoning, but couldn’t remember eating anything that my family hadn’t.  So then my mom brought up the possiblity of a migraine.  They run on both sides of my family and have often been paired with flu or virus like symptoms for some of my relatives.  But then I ran a low-grade fever (only about 100.3) for a few hours.  It was strange, only lasted about 18 hours, and no one else got sick.

I did all of the things I know to do to heal my body quickly:

1. Vitamin D (8000 – 10,000 iU at least)

2. Epsom Salts bath with 2-3 drops each of Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Thieves Oils.

3. Lysine in case it was a virus

I forgot to thaw out bone broth, which definitely would have helped.  I always have kombucha on hand, which is full of probiotics which is essential in fighting illness.  Had my fever persisted for more than a few hours I would have definitely been whipping up a batch of my Terrible Tonic, which has never failed to knock out illness extremely quickly!

For my family, I did some preventative things to keep them from getting sick:

1. Thieves in the diffuser, put it on their feet, at the base of their spines, and I sprayed bedding with my Immune Boosting Surface and Hand Sanitizer.

2. For the boys: Sambucus & Fermented Cod Liver Oil/Butter Oil Blend, 4000 iU vitamin D.

3. For my husband: Oil of Oregano, and 8-10,000 iU vitamin D

4. For the baby: I nursed a ton and gave her a bit of baby vitamin D.

So, here we are, no one else is sick and I’m feeling great!

I even made homemade butter from grass-fed cream this morning – it’s easier than you think and full of vitamins.  I actually consider it a health food!  Don’t believe me?  This article by Food Renegade just might change your mind.

Anyhow, getting sick got me thinking, it could have been the flu…and if your immune system is working the way it was designed to, the flu is easy to fight off and recover from quickly.
