Evolving from the bedroom recording project of Caleb Karvountzis, Melbourne four-piece Tiny Little Houses have deservedly risen to acclaim quite quickly. Their single “Easy” marks the start of a new EP fittingly called You Tore My Heart Out. A break up song from the point of view of the unsuspecting party, “Easy” unravels a languishing narrative in Karvountzis’ comforting twang and texturizing guitar lines reminiscent of 90’s indie rock. Bright tones and airy harmonies provide a needed retreat from sadness as they slice through the forlorn, folk melody. Each lyric unfolds into a picturesque depiction of heartbreak captured just as beautifully in the band’s new film clip.
Intensifying the emotion of the song in stunning cinematography, DPI Productions and the band took to Luna Park to depict a particularly fiery instance of unrequited love. A disgruntled father hoping to reunite happily with his son and ex-wife at the park changes tune when the pair show up with a new man. Disintegrating with haste, the surprise meet up escalates to a climatical, raucous bumper car ride mirrored sonically by the impetuosity of the searing guitar solo.
