Tic knock fights US ban, Twitter takes action against another Trump tweet, and Unity files go public. This is your Daily Crunch for August 24, 2020.

The big story: TikTok sues the US government

TikTok is battling the Trump administration's decision to ban the popular video app in the US market (unless it is sold to a US buyer). The company filed a lawsuit today claiming the president's executive order was signed without evidence or due process.

In its lawsuit, the company argued:

The executive order seeks to ban TikTok allegedly due to the speculative possibility that the application could be manipulated by the Chinese government. But, as the U.S. government is well aware, plaintiffs have taken extraordinary measures to protect the privacy and data security of U.S. TikTok users, including by having TikTok store such data outside of China (in the U.S. and Singapore) and erecting software barriers that help ensure that TikTok stores its user data in the United States separately from the user data of other ByteDance products.
