Posted on the 23 November 2022 by Nftnewspro

Event ticketing company TicketMaster has registered Web3 trademarks for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digital collectibles with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Mike Koundoudis, a registered trademark lawyer, made the statement on Twitter on November 21, 2022. The following are trademarks for:

  • Virtual goods and media
  • Digital goods created with blockchain-based software
  • technology, including photos, artwork, images, games, and videos
  • Virtual experiences in entertainment, sports, popular culture, and the arts
  • Downloadable computer software and programs for creating,
  • storing, trending, sending, and receiving cryptocurrency, NFTs, – crypto-collectibles, and other tokens

TicketMaster has been optimistic about Web3 for quite some time, and while it is unclear how the company will use its newly acquired trademarks, the company certainly has great aspirations for the technology.

TicketMaster teamed with Dapper Labs in August for Live Nation Entertainment shows to issue NFT tickets on the Flow blockchain. The business was able to develop a digital wallet and NFT marketplace due to their cooperation. The most recent trademarks provide the company an advantage for a significant Web3 push.

Rising demand for NFT tickets

The statement that TicketMaster is wagering the company on Web3 technology is monumental, given that TicketMaster is the world’s largest event ticketing company. TicketMaster is not the only company utilizing NFT and Web3 technology for events and tickets, though. Numerous articles have been produced by Rarity Sniper’s crew on the subject of NFT tickets. Several examples are provided below.

The NBA Top Shot NFT platform initially auctioned off thirty NFTs for VIP tickets to NBA All-Star Games. NBA Top Shot subscribers who purchased NFTs at auction will receive VIP tickets to every NBA All-Star Game between 2023 and 2027.

Floyd Mayweather sold NFT tickets for an exhibition battle versus Don Moore in Dubai in May of 2022. NFT ticketholders had access to live feeds of the game, limited edition 3D trinkets, mementos, and 10 images from the event as soon as they acquired their tickets.

The NFL just extended the NFT ticket stub program until the 2022-2023 season. NFL fans were able to get NFT ticket stubs for all games beginning with Week 1 of the regular season. In addition, the NFL required every team to furnish NFT ticket stubs for at least three home games.

NFTs are particularly useful in the ticketing sector due to their capacity to establish ownership and be related to tangible objects. The registration of these Web3 trademarks indicates that the global leader in event ticketing has aspirational aspirations for the future of online ticketing. We shall keep our eyes and ears open for any Web3-related firm developments.
