Ticketmaster & Dapper Labs Cooperate for NFT Tickets

Posted on the 02 September 2022 by Nftnewspro

The event ticketing giant Ticketmaster revealed that it will use Dapper Labs’ Flow blockchain to mint tickets as NFTs for future events. The NFTs act as “proof of presence” and are collectable digital memorabilia which can be stored and traded on the blockchain.

The report cams after Ticketmaster and Dapper Labs were testing an NFT pilot program. As part of the pilot, Ticketmaster issued collectible NFT tickets to attendees of chosen events, involving the current year’s Super Bowl.

Dapper Labs shared that over five million Ticketmaster NFTs were minted by Flow in a six-month period. Via this partnership, Ticketmaster created a digital wallet and NFT marketplace feature on its site, which enables users to trade and view their NFTs as well.

Regarding the report, the NFT tickets are not all-inclusive. Rather than, Ticketmaster will release them for choosing events, containing 100 games of next NFL season.

Mickey Maher, SVP of collaborations for Dapper Labs, stated that he is undecided about if all tickets should one day become NFTs. He added: “collaborations and projects like this one between Ticketmaster and Dapper Labs could lead ticketing to the blockchain.

NFT tickets are becoming more popular

Ticketmaster may be the most prominent ticketing company issuing NFT tickets, but it’s surly not the only entity experimenting with NFT tickets. It was covered many unique NFT ticketing projects in the news previously. Below are some of the most appealing ones.

• A few months ago, EXIT, the two-time winner of the Best Major European Festival, collaborated with NFT-Tix to become the initial European music festival to use blockchain tech for ticketing. In addition, EXIT released NFT series’ with superstars Christina Carmella and Maceo Plex.

• Second, Paris Hilton lately became a leading investor in “Afterparty”, an NFT ticketing site. The platform reportedly raised about $7 M from venture capitalists, investment firms, and celebrities. The platform gained popularity last year following minting 1,500 NFTs which gave holders entry to a myriad of party benefits and VIP passes.

Finally, TravelX and Air Europa issued a collection of NFT flight tickets named The NFTickets. The NFTickets are tied to real airfare for a flight from Madrid to Miami in December. The flight corresponds with the Art Basel event in Miami, which is a hotspot for crypto and NFT fans.

It will take time to tell if Ticketmaster’s NFT tickets will be successful on the Flow blockchain, and whether the company will continue to expand its NFT ticket options. But given the myriad ways NFT technology can be applied to tickets and the past successes of Dapper Labs and Flow blockchain, there is a good chance NFT tickets are here to stay.
